2023 Chocolate Walk in the Pecan Capital

Writer's picture: BecsBecs

Welcome to the Pecan Capital of the World....AKA Brunswick, Missouri!

This popular small-town in Mid-Missouri offers more fun than the annual Pecan Festival...this town has several fun events throughout the year. One event that I LOVE to attend is the Brunswick Annual Chocolate Walk.

The Brunswick Annual Chocolate Walk takes place the weekend before Valentine's Day each year.

Are you looking for something sweet to do with your partner on Valentine's Day? Skip the generic dinner and flowers night...plan a fun day in Brunswick at the Chocolate Walk and checking out what all this small town charm has to offer.

The tickets for the Chocolate Walk is $15, and that ticket includes chocolate at 10 different stops. The stops are all located within the shops on Broadway, the main strip in downtown Brunswick. This event is also very popular and full of fun. There are limited amount of tickets that can be sold each year...make sure you buy a ticker before they sell out!

The 2023 line-up for the chocolate stops included:

  • Grand River Marketplace - Home goods store offering baked goods and pastries, jams/jellies, candies, homemade BBQ sauces, jams/jellies, grab & go lunches and breakfast items, make your own coffee bar, seasons/spices, local t-shirts and hand-crafted items, much more. You can spend a lot of time in this store!

  • Honey Bee-Tique & Thunder Nutrition - Honey Bee-Tique is a cute & quaint clothing store offering trendy and durable clothes. I have a few set of earrings and shoes from this store along with some trendy fringe jeans, adorable crop tops, and wedge-style shoes. Thunder Nutrition offers nutritious and delicious drinks! This is a perfect store to grab a drink and do some shopping. At this stop, I was able to taste a peanut butter protein ball and chocolate candies.

  • Urban Exchange - Urban Exchange is a clothing store that has a mixture of new items and resale items. When I am looking to resell my clothes, I like to bring them to Urban Exchange in Brunswick. While you are there, you can purchase some accessories to complete your outfit such as necklaces, earrings, a purse, some shoes, a jacket/cover up, fun socks, and a hat to name a few. At the Urban Exchange, I was able to taste an unbelievable delicious Oreo cupcake.

  • Kaitlynn’s - From the freshest ingredients in a salad and sandwich, to the most mouthwatering cheesecake...you can't go wrong ordering anything at Kaitlynn's. At this stop, you were able to take a piece of cheesecake! Want my personal recommendation/top favorite flavor?? Try the Turtle cheesecake!

  • Slaikeu Crafts - Slaikeu Crafts is a family in Brunswick and the surrounding area that get together to make crafts together! How fun does that sound?? Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to this stop during the chocolate walk, but they had their stand at the Knights of Columbus building.

  • The Grove - The Grove is the most adorable antique shop that has fun items ranging from furniture to clothes to cooking items. My favorite section is in the back where the antiques dresses, hats, purses, and gloves are. I could look at antique outfits and clothes for hours! There large furniture items like beds, benches, dressers, tables, chairs, and side-tables. There are even old cooking bowls, mixing bowls, mixers, utensils, plates, cake platters and more. During the Chocolate Walk, The Grove was giving out chocolate covered pecans.

  • UpRiver Home & Gifts - You can also spend a lot of time inside of UpRiver Home & Gifts! Along with wine and adult beverage infused slushies, this spot also has an abundance of season/spices, dips, cheeses, cooking appliances, wine appliances, and more. At UpRiver Home & Gifts, you could take a cupcake of your choosing. I tried the peanut butter cupcake, which had the sweetest and creamiest peanut butter icing I have ever tasted!

  • Madison Bootlegger’s - After a long day of shopping and tasting chocolate, make sure to stop at Madison Bootlegger's for lunch! At this stop, they were serving bags chocolate drizzled popcorn and cups of steaming hot chocolate. For lunch, we ordered the Cheeseburger & Fries Pizza for the meal and the Fried Pickles appetizer to start.

  • Sam Johnson’s Appliances - Sam Johnson's Appliance offers unique furniture finds, comfortable beds & mattresses, washers/dryers, and refrigerators/freezers to name a handful. I found the CUTEST cow print chair at Sam Johnson's. At this stop, there were wrapped chocolate candies and chocolate dipped cookies!

  • Twin Oaks - Twin Oaks is a furniture store with handmade, rustic tables, coffee tables, storage cabinets, sofa tables, beds, and more. Looking to add a rustic look or farm-home touch to your home?? Twin Oaks has plenty of decorations to make your house radiate a small town charm. At this stop, we tasted dark and white chocolate covered pretzels.

I always have a blast at the Brunswick Annual Chocolate Walk. This event is something fun that can be experienced with your partner for Valentine's Day, on a causal date with your significant other, or a day date with the gal pals! Make sure to add this event to your 2024 bucket list.
