We spent a weekend in Westcliffe, Colorado for my sister's elopement/wedding party. Our schedule was packed with loads of fun each day! One of the days on the trip, we visited a soothing hot spring and then hopped on the two hour train ride. Hot spring and a train ride through the mountains in Colorado??? Can it get better than that??
While on the train, we ordered some adult beverages (the daiquiri was delightful) and food (you MUST try the nachos). The train ride cost was roughly $55 a person (packages here) when we went. The food and beverages on the train are available at additional costs (they have a menu just like if you were at a restaurant), but the prices are relatively fair!
You can go outside on the open-air observation cart. The view is spectacular! Everyone is clamoring to take pictures on the observation cart...don't get me wrong....I was doing it, too. Take a couple of shots out there and then put the phone away in your pocket to just take a couple seconds to breathe! The overall experience is thrilling yet relaxing.
(Hint: Make sure to pack a coat or hat just in case! The wind on the train can be quite chilling near the water.)
